and where provided, your credit card details are sent to us through a secure server using the latest SSL encryption technology and encoding protocols. 

Personal information related to your bookings is collected directly by our online booking partners Starfish Luxury Travel, who are IATA accredited and are part of the Travel Intelligence group. This information
is only used to process and confirm your booking, and is required to ensure you receive a professional service. 

We do not disclose your personal information to other parties without your prior consent, nor do we ever sell mailing lists to third parties. We may contact you to advise you of any changes or problems with your hotel booking, to send you our newsletters if you have chosen to subscribe, or to notify you if you have won a Room for Romance competition.

BOOKING CONDITIONS

Room for Romance does not represent individual hotels, and while we carefully select all properties featured on this site we cannot make any guarantees as to their standards or suitability for your stay.

Bookings are made with our online booking partners Starfish Luxury Travel, and not with Room for Romance or Riva Publishing Ltd, owners of Room for Romance. Starfish acts as the sole booking agent for Room for Romance.

Full booking terms and conditions are supplied by Starfish, and can be viewed on our booking pages. You will need to confirm your acceptance of these terms and conditions when booking on the Room for Romance site.

Where payment or a deposit is due in advance to a hotel or to Starfish, this will be advised and itemised at the time of booking. Where full prepayments (required in rare instances) are made online to Starfish on behalf of the hotel, a 2% administration charge will be made, and where a credit card is used, a 3% credit card fee. This credit card fee does not apply to payments made with debit cards.

You are advised to reconfirm your hotel booking a week before check-in, and to let the hotel know your estimated time of arrival. If you arrive after 18.00 hours, the hotel should be notified.

Starfish may occasionally charge a separate booking fee for the work undertaken in researching and booking the hotel on your behalf. These fees are clearly marked where applicable, and once paid, are non-refundable.

CANCELLATIONS

When you make a reservation, you are confirming that you have read and agree to that particular hotel's cancellation policy and the terms and conditions shown on this site. Do ensure you have read the cancellation policy (displayed at time of booking) of the hotel you are booking.

You are strongly recommended to take out personal travel insurance at the time of booking, should you need to cancel for any reason. A link is provided on our booking confirmation emails so you can obtain a quote from our insurance partners Columbus Direct, who offer excellent rates. 

All bookings are subject to the individual cancellation policy of your chosen hotel, and details are shown at the time of booking. Cancellation policies specify a period before check-in when cancellations will be subject to payment of a penalty. This period does not include the day of arrival. Thus a 24-hour cancellation policy means that a booking must be cancelled at least 24 hours before midnight of the day before your arrival date.

Once a booking has been made with Starfish by entering your credit card details, you are subject to the cancellation policy of that hotel. Where deposits or pre-payments are taken, these may be non-refundable. Where deposits are taken by the hotel, these are subject to the hotel’s own  cancellation policy.
 

Please note that cancellations must be made by using the link supplied at the time of your confirmation, and followed with an email or telephone call direct to the hotel.


‘ON REQUEST’ BOOKINGS

Where room availability is shown 'on request', it means that we need to confirm availability directly with the hotel first. You will then receive a phone call or email from our bookings team confirming whether accommodation is available for your selected dates. Rooms cannot be held pending your acceptance of such an offer, and availability can change rapidly. Hotels moreover reserve the right to amend or reject bookings, or to change their booking conditions. To avoid disappointment, offers should be accepted as soon as possible if you wish to make a firm booking. Our online booking partners Starfish will email you within 24 hours to confirm your booking status.

If your check-in date is within seven days of making a request booking, you are advised to contact the hotel direct to confirm – especially if you plan to make travel arrangements based around your request booking.

ROOM FOR ROMANCE EXTRAS

Many Room for Romance offer you special Extras to help make your stay memorable – often a bottle of champagne, welcome drinks or upgrade.

Where Room for Romance Extras are detailed, hotels must agree to honour this offer. However Riva Publishing Ltd, owners of Room for Romance, cannot accept responsibility for any loss, damage, disappointment, inconvenience or injury as a result of a hotel’s failure to honour the Extras shown.
Some offers – for example a room upgrade – are subject to availability on arrival.

he contract is made between you and the hotel concerned and any claims or complaints against a hotel must be settled directly with the hotel concerned. If you have any reason for complaint or dissatisfaction during your stay it is important that you take this up with the hotel management to try and resolve this.

We act as an intermediary between you and the hotels, and have no direct control over the quality of services or the charges of individual hotels. We therefore are not responsible or liable in any way whatsoever in relation to any dispute arising between you and the hotels regarding their charges, quality of services, facilities or otherwise.

OUR PRINTED GUIDES

You can buy copies of our printed Room for Romance hotel guides by calling +44 (0)1225 428888. Books are normally despatched by first class post (airmail for overseas orders) within 24 hours of receipt of order. We cannot be held responsible for any delays in delivery where the cause of such delays (eg a postal strike) is beyond our control.

Should you need to return books due to damage or to an error on our part, we recommend that you use a recorded delivery service. Please state your reason for the return. We will notify you by e-mail when we have processed your refund. We reserve the right to make changes to our conditions of purchase at any time.
