Special features
Rooms in the original house have more of a country feel, while those in the new wing are sleekly contemporary. Some have canopy beds, and all come with fluffy bathrobes and wi-fi. The best have lake views.
Pillow Talk
Guests are clamouring to stay in Room 21 (a Luxury Lake View room), complete with its own private outdoor hot tub. Room 4 (also with lake views) is another favourite, with terrific views and big free-standing bathtub. The swishy Loft suite, with retractable glass ceiling and fabulous egg-shaped bath, also takes some beating.
Eat & Drink
Dining in
Polished wood floors, tall vases of lilies, a montage of mirrors and beautifully framed photographs set the tone in the Billiard Room and Mirror Room at Linthwaite House. Both dining rooms offer great views of the wooded grounds, and well spaced tables add privacy.
Tuck into roasted quail breast with sweet carrot, glazed shallots and crisp pancetta, followed by venison loin with braised shin, pearl barley broth and pickled pear. Leave room for the tarte tatin with apple crumble icecream. There's an open-to-view kitchen where you can see the kitchen brigade at work. Have drinks on the terrace in summer, with its views over lake Windermere.
Breakfast
Full breakfast is served until 10am. Menu options include fruit smoothies, smoked haddock and veggie options.
Room service
Available morning and evening.
