Losehill House and Spa
A complimentary bottle of champagne on arrival.
TUCKED ALONG A LEAFY LANE with standout views of heather covered hillsides, Losehill House Hotel & Spa is not surprisingly billed as one of the best kept secrets in the Peak District.
In an area known for its simple country pubs and B&Bs, Losehill House offers the “L” factor – bedrooms big on luxe, plus an outdoor hot tub for decadent hillside soaks. Just the ticket, then for some chilled together-time in the Dales.
Ultra-comfortable, contemporary rooms come in neutral shades with accents of gunmetal and gold. All have big beds, plenty of plump pillows and gleaming travertine tiled bathrooms with thick towels, fluffy robes and Thalgo sa toiletries. The best look across to Win Hill at the rear, though all offer glimpses of the Hope Valley and scenic Derbyshire Dales.
Bathtub for two
The Edale suite beckons for special occasions, with its private entrance, massive walk-in shower and huge bathtub for two. It’s also set up for private dining should you choose. We also loved the Deluxe King rooms – numbers 4 and 10 being some of the best. Of the King doubles, Room 5 offers the best views.
Wake up to brilliant breakfast views from the all-windowed dining room, with its unfurling vista of hill country. This light and large room opens directly onto the roomy lounge bar, where you can sip pre-dinner drinks (or scoff a Derbyshire afternoon tea) on wide cushioned sofas.
Relaxation is the keynote at Losehill House. Walks start at the front door (staff are happy to help with trail maps), and most guests head down to the Spa, where an indoor pool, sauna and bubbling outdoor hot tub – perfect for a soak after hillside rambles – await. You can also book a range of revitalising face and body treatments.
Losehill’s friendly local team keep things running smoothly, making Losehill just the place for jaded townies seeking a chillout break in this scenic corner of Britain.
