A complimentary bottle of both red and white wine, complimentary chocolates, plus home made cake ready for your arrival.
SET IN THE SCENIC and secluded Derbyshire Dales, Heather Cottage is a romantic little hideaway just made for a minimoon or indulgent long weekend.
Think five star hotel where you have the place all to yourselves! Heather Cottage has been beautifully refurbished from the rafters down, and now offers a luxurious and intimate retreat where you can relax under the stars in the huge Canadian cedarwood hot tub, watch the world go by from the window of your bedroom with its huge oak four poster, or stretch out on the squashy leather sofa in the sitting room warmed by the flames of the fire bowl.
You’ll even find an inviting tea tray with Grandma’s Old Country Rose china and some delicious home-made cakes awaiting you on arrival.
With stunning views of Kirk Ireton village and the Dales, the master bedroom is a stylish sanctuary made for unwinding. The solid wood floor is complemented by the huge hand made bed and the oak beams above.
Double bathtub for two
Luxurious fabrics, atmospheric lighting, original paintings and well chosen accessories create a tranquil and welcoming haven with a country scent of wood and beeswax. The vast six foot wide four poster bed has been hand-crafted from original oak beams in the nearby spa town of Matlock.
Fluffy towels, robes, slippers, soaps and scents await in the fabulous bathroom at Heather Cottage, with its deep, double bathtub for two and a huge power shower. There's underfloor heating, naturally!
French doors lead from the lounge onto the private patio at the rear of Heather Cottage, with a few steps leading to the sunken area where your private outdoor Canadian hot tub awaits. There’s a cosy Scandinavian-style cabin here with comfy seating and fluffy robes, and the cottage’s downstairs wet room can also be accessed.
The terrace is set up for al fresco dining with a barbecue and a chunky wooden table and seats made from carved tree trunks.
The lawned front garden with its low stone wall commands lovely views of the old stone-built village of Kirk Ireton, while the 18th century Barley Mow pub and village shop are just down the hill. Sit on the garden bench with a G&T and watch the world go by.
Guests have an open invitation to come up to Dannah Farm, a ten minute drive away, for a full Derbyshire farmhouse breakfast if the ‘self’ in ‘self-catering’ seems a bit too much like hard work!
This idyllic and cosy little romantic hideaway also boasts a Snug which can easily be turned into an additional ensuite bedroom should you be travelling with a small baby.
From the rustic pictures of contented hens on the wall to the pot of fresh herbs on the windowsill, the light and homely kitchen at Heather Cottage comes equipped with an up-to-the-minute oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and plenty of smart crockery. There’s even a little TV in here in case you fancy catching up with the outside world! And there are plenty of pubs and restaurants within easy reach if you want all the peace and quiet of a self-catering break without actually doing any of the catering for yourself!
