Know It All
Hit the spot
In the historic village of Castle Combe, near Bath.
Come here for...
• Five star comforts and Michelin star dining. • The chance to stay in a chocolate-box 17th village – the backdrop to a string of period dramas. • Golfing minutes from the front door on Wiltshire's No 1 fairway. • Nearly 400 acres of sweeping grounds.
There's Michelin star dining at the Bybrook Restaurant, a superb 18-hole golf course and sweeping grounds complete with ducks and a stream.
Good to know
The village is a popular spot for weekend lunches and teas.
19 rooms, 29 suites.
Many suites have kingsize or four poster beds, roll-top or infinity baths and walk-in showers. Extra comforts include hand-made, breathable mattresses and a pillow menu.
Rooms are located both in the main manor and in mews cottages alongside. We loved the duplex Deluxe Junior suites, which all have a rolltop, infinity or jacuzzi bath, a four poster or colonial style bed and a balcony or patio. Master suites simply ooze luxury while Traditional Junior suites (some with vintage oak panelling, others more contemporary in style) have lovely views across the grounds.
Eat & Drink
Michelin-starred chef Richard Davies works wonders with locally-sourced ingredients to produce a limited, though utterly tempting, choice of dishes. Favourites include slow-cooked belly of pork, melt-in-the-mouth rare fillet of beef and wild halibut. There’s also a wide-ranging wine list.
Golfers can dine at the Woodbury clubhouse restaurant before or after teeing off, and the Full Glass bar is just the place for evening cocktails.
Served until 10:00 on weekdays, 10:30 at weekends.
Available 24 hours.
