We especially loved the spacious and private Loft suites at the top of the house – East and West. These fabulous suites are packed with Wow factor and have huge copper bathtubs for two.

There’s no restaurant here but cream teas with cakes and pastries are served in the afternoon – and you’re only minutes from dozens of eateries in nearby Clifton village. Number Thirty Eight is fully licensed, so you can have drinks served in your room, on the terrace or in the lounge.

Served until 9.30 weekdays and 10.00 at weekends. Look forward to Somerset apple juice and house recipe sausages made by Bristol butchers Ruby & White. Lighter alternatives such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, mushrooms on toast, fresh fruit and granola are also served.

Go jogging or walking on The Downs or mountain bike riding in Leigh Woods. You’re just a short walk from Bristol Zoo and the gorge-spanning Clifton Suspension Bridge. Bristol’s city centre attractions – the Harbour, M-Shed museum space, Cabot Square shops and SS Great Britain – are 30 mins away and you can hop on a bus just across the street. Nearby Clifton village is abuzz with cafes and restaurants.
