New York style maven Karen Rashid has created a fun and funky place to stay with a 'Freddie Mercury meets the Maharishi‘ concept. What‘s for sure is that Myhotel Brighton is as far from a demure Regency seaside terrace as you can get. It may not be super-luxury, but it's highly affordable.

Primary colours rule here: expect lots of dazzling whites, hot pinks, bright greens and sassy orange. Urban design is spliced with the esoteric: crystals and kaleidoscope prints underline the boutique hotel‘s feng shui principles of soul-refreshing and free-flowing energy. Devout fans of trad should stay well away!

Fun and funky colours

Light and airy bedrooms come with smooth leather furniture, curved contours and plenty of techno treats: fun and funky colours are matched with plasma screen TVs, iPod dock, complimentary wi-fi and sound system. Carpets revel in 70s-style pop-art swirls, while musings from well-known musicians dot the walls. Beds are centre stage and modesty is thrown to the wind in the glass-walled shower pods.

We liked the More Superior rooms, with their floor to ceiling windows, power showers and Aveda bathroom treats. For a touch of luxe, go for one of the three serene and extra-private artist studios (Jade, Bamboo and Heaven), with circular beds and huge curved windows. For a seriously splashy stay, opt for the penthouse Carousel suite with its freestanding bedroom bathtub for two and private steam room.

Down an exotic cocktail downstairs in moody Merkaba, with its sexy mood lighting and curved banquettes. Book a body treatment at Jinja, Myhotel‘s dedicated treatment room or check out the wellbeing room, library and two great eateries.

Myhotel Brighton is close to all the buzz of Brighton‘s bars, shops and restos and just five minutes from the sea. Super-friendly staff are happy to go the extra mile for their guests.
