Activities
See & Do
There's plenty to do hereabouts. The moors and woodland of Exmoor National Park are close by, as are the tress, temples and trails of Hestercombe Gardens and the Tudor mansion Barrington Court. Dunster is a picture book Somerset village with thatched cottages and a castle, while Glastonbury jostles with little shops selling every kind of charm and scented candle.
Spa pampering
Mount Somerset's small but perfectly equipped Spa has a hydropool, foot spa, sauna, steam room and mini-gym. There's a relaxation room (and outdoor terrace) where you can take refreshments and three treatment rooms offering a varied menu of treatments.

Our stay last weekend was fabulous. Thanks ever so much! Will definitely be booking with you again. We're in love with having a private hot tub now!

As you come off the M5 and meander down the country lanes a feeling of peace comes over you. We climbed up the hill and arrived at a stunning Regency Country House glistening in the sunshine. A really beautiful hotel, on arrival the grand hall stands before you with a sweeping staircase and enormous chandelier. The hotel has recently been refurbished and it shows, with a mixture of old and new, 'old' in the beautiful lounge and bar area, with its opulent decor with amazing views, and 'new' in the contemporary style bedrooms and stunning bathrooms with roll top bathtubs. We had a lovely corner Garden suite with a private terrace and hot tub backing onto the gardens, and beautiful side views towards the Quantocks. A beautiful sunset was in store for us, with a quick visit to the Spa and dinner on the terrace, bliss, plus the hot tub of course! The Mount Somerset has all the characteristics of a quintessential English Regency mansion. The food and service were fabulous and a great stay was had by us both!

We thought the hotel was absolutely lovely. It's in a beautiful location and the hot tub was great. Staff were charming and the offer on your site was great value.

Wow, what a wonderful stay! The staff were so friendly, the hotel was picturesque and the room was literally perfect (no joke, I cannot fault it). The hot tub was just what we needed with the bottle of Prosecco. After a busy month at work for both my partner and myself it was so relaxing. There was a lot to choose from at breakfast and the service was outstanding. Dinner was beyond delicious and all our needs and tastes were met. The only minor fault was we were charged for water when we had only wanted water from the tap. However the rest of the stay was perfection. While we were having dinner, somebody had visited our room, changed our towels and turned down the bed. It was great to stay somewhere that was so customer service driven and if I had the chance to stay in our room again, I would not turn it down! All in all, 9.5 out of 10.

Our review
As reviewed by Room for Romance
AN ELEGANT REGENCY country house, Mount Somerset Hotel and Spa is set in four acres of rolling grounds. This grand dame of a manor sits high on a hilltop cradled between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills, and boasts some of the best views in Somerset.
With its grand entrance, high ceilings, sweeping spiral staircase and a mood of gentle luxury, Mount Somerset has all the feel of a grandly Georgian private home.
With two AA Rosettes under its belt for outstanding cooking and a great Somerset location that’s handy for the M5 while surrounded by rural hills, this luxury hotel manages to combine some wonderful classic features with contemporary comfort.
Pre-dinner drinks and canapés are served in the lounge, with its big squishy sofas, and a fire crackling on cooler days. The high ceilinged dining room has views over the sweeping gardens, making it an appealing setting for lunch and dinner. Afternoon teas on the terrace are a speciality.
Garden suites with hot tubs
Signature bedrooms include the Barrington suite, with its seven foot bed, twin shower and rolltop bath, and the Garden suites, both of which come with their own outdoor hot tub.
If de-stressing is the order of the day, Mount Somerset has a small but perfectly equipped spa with treatment rooms and therapists. Aside from the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, there’s an indoor relaxation area and a sunny terrace perfect for sipping a herbal tea (or something stronger) after your treatment. Friendly staff and a hospitable vibe are the icing on the cake at this welcoming Somerset luxury hotel.
