The Town House
A complimentary bottle of Cava.
MINUTES FROM THE BEACH and the boardwalk that leads out to Puerto Banus, The Town House sits on a pretty cobbled square in Marbella’s old town. Close to Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange Square), this quarter of old Andalucia with its fountain and orange blossom seems a million miles from the city’s glitzy palm-lined avenues and marble pavements.
The Town House feels rather like an airy private home, with a little bar near the entrance and a roof terrace four floors above where you can sip a glass of vino and take in fabulous views of Marbella's rooftops and La Concha mountain. It also offers outstanding value for money.
The serene atmosphere is conducive to spending lazy siesta hours sprawled on the rooftop’s ivory cushions with a cooling drink, or pouring yourself a nightcap from the honesty bar while waiting for the stars to come out. It’s hard to believe you’re bang in the middle of town here.
All nine light and airy rooms are chic and individually decorated, mixing contemporary design with well-chosen retro pieces. Creamy-white walls and paintwork, crisp cotton sheets and clutter-free furnishings lend a timeless feel, while well appointed bathrooms shine with Spanish tiles. Cool floors and beamed or sloping ceilings complete the picture.
While the owners are Swedish, The Town House feels more classic French than cool Scandinavian. Marble floors complement the fine cornicing, graceful mirrors and classic-contemporary furnishings.
Breakfast is served in the little downstairs bar (an opportunity to meet some of your fellow guests), though you'll want to take yours upstairs to the roof terrace if the sun is shining. There are plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity, and The Town House’s friendly staff are happy to make recommendations.
From here you’ll enjoy strolling through the cobbled streets and little squares of Marbella's old town, with its bijou shops, bistros and tapas bars. You’re just a short stroll from the beach and the city's many glam beach clubs.
