See & Do
Sicily is steeped in history and its many rulers have all left their mark. Do go and see the fabulous cathedral and the Palazzo dei Normanni in Palermo, and make time to wander the city's warren of squares and alleyways strung with washing and teeming with little markets. A horse and buggy ride makes a pleasant way to take in the sights. It's worth going up the valley to see the dazzling Byzantine cathedral at Monreale, while further afield, a trip to Taormina and Mount Etna – all fiery sparks at night – will be a highlight.
Easter is big in Palermo – come and see the huge parade and re-enactment of the last supper.
Parades and other festivities mark the Festival of Santa Rosalia, a 4oo-year-old celebration of Palermo’s patron saint.
