Marulivo Hotel - Review
Knockout views are just one of the features of this little boutique B&B, created from a one-time 14th century convent high above the clear blue seas. Take in the sweeping vistas from the terrace, and you probably won’t want to stir.
Owners Lea and Massimo have restored the once-abandoned building – a residential palace in its heyday – into an appealing escape in the heart of Pisciotta’s medieval district on Italy’s southern shores. Lavished with TLC, Marulivo Hotel now matches the past with the best in contemporary comforts.
Dazzling views
Ancient stone arches, cloisters, antique wood and terracotta are all reminders of the building’s rich historic fabric. Furnished with hand-picked antiques and every comfort, bedrooms have a distinctly Tuscan flavour and come with delectable French balconies or grand windows overlooking the sea.
Step outside and take in the sweep of olive trees and clear blue waters from Marulivo’s wide cliffside terrace, where you can enjoy an al fresco breakfast in the morning or cocktails at sundown.
For the max in space you may prefer checking into Casa Pixos – a restored 16th century house a few minutes away where the boutique hotel’s owners have created four spacious apartments with hanging gardens and terraces with stunning sea views. Glicine – created from a former sculpture studio – is the most romantic, while Bougainvillea is the biggest.
Fine beaches, clear seas and a lively harbour are some of the hallmarks of historic Pisciotta, set on a hill above an unspoilt stretch of coast. The town is surrounded by the Cilento national park, and within easy reach of the famously scenic Amalfi coast.
