Boutique B&B with superlative views over the Tyrrhenian Sea

Clinging to the cliffside in the medieval hill town of Pisciotta – an hour south of the Amalfi coast – Marulivo Hotel gazes out over the turquoise Tyrrhenian Sea through a tumble of scented lemon groves.

From Our Guestbook

"We had a lovely room with a great view over the coast. We did have the junior suite so there…"

Know It All

Hit the spot
In the hill town of Pisciotta, 90 minutes south of Naples.

Come here for...
● A cliffside winner with views to match. ● Ancient arches and antiques. ● Soaking up the sea views.

There’s a small library in the foyer and a terrace lounge bar (but no pool) with fabulous views.

Good to know
Pisciotta’s narrow medieval lanes are too narrow for cars, so be ready to walk!

Nine rooms and two suites

Special features
Most rooms have great sea views, with the superior rooms having a balconette. You’ll also find wi-fi, satellite TV, minibar, electronic safe and air-con.

Pillow Talk
Take a queen-bedded Junior suite, whose big windows frame fine views, or one of the Superior rooms – our favourites were Samarcanda and Petra.

Eat & Drink

Dining in
There’s no restaurant at Marulivo, but breakfast on the scenic verandah will set you up for the day.

Breakfast is served until 10.30am.

Room service

Available morning and evening.

See & Do
Explore Pisciotta’s  medieval centro storico, with its narrow lanes and ancient houses. Hire a boat for the day at the harbour or go swimming, diving and snorkelling. There are also pretty seaside villages to explore along this stretch of coast.

Take an excursion through the Cilento national park, or head for the archaeological sites (and summertime opera and theatre) of Paestum and Pompeii. Book a boat ride to the Palinuro sea caves or see the Amalfi coast from the deck of a sailboat. Mountain bike rental and vintage car tours can also be arranged, and shuttles are available to the main beaches.

There’s no spa at the hotel, but a nearby wellness centre offers  steam baths, massages and jacuzzis.

Diary Dates

Walk through a living museum of wild orchids in Sassano, in the heart of the protected national park.

July – September
Tap your foot at the Ispani Jazz Festival.

A must see is ‘a chiena a Campagna’, where the river Tenza is diverted into the village streets of Campagna and the whole town takes a plunge.

A spectacle of light, sound and dance in late August marks La Notte del Mitoon the beaches of Marina di Camerota.

A complimentary bottle of chilled Prosecco in your room.
