Glowing chalet with heart-thumping Alpine views
Glowing with warm woods, roaring fires and handsome antiques, Hotel Bellevue is like a luxurious mountain chalet. Blink awake to crystal Alpine views and the glitter of snow, high up in Valle d'Aosta.
Know It All
Hit the Spot
In Cogne, at the heart of the Gran Paradiso national park.
Come here for...
• Roaring fires, cosy wood panelling and snow-capped vistas. • Spa time in the mountains. • Winter skiing from the doorstep.
There are three restaurants, plus an award-winning spa with an indoor pool, jacuzzi, aromatic saunas, steam rooms, treatment menus and relaxation areas.
Good to know
Take skis in winter, walking boots in summer and a camera for any season.
38 rooms and suites, plus two chalets
The best bedrooms are like the rosiest and cosiest of log cabins. Eight rooms have a fireplace, of which seven also have a whirlpool bath.
Go for a Junior suite if the budget allows, for a balcony with views over the Gran Paradiso – one has a four-poster plus an open fireplace facing the foot of the bed. Deluxe doubles with a fireplace go even better, with a balcony and views, whirlpool bathtub and (in three) a private sauna.
Eat & Drink
The Bellevue has a choice of three restaurants, all of them specialising in traditional Alpine dishes with an imaginative twist.
Breakfast is served until 10.30am. Look forward to homemade pastries, preserves and pancakes.
Available in the morning.
See & Do
You're in Grade-A skiing and walking country here. Breathe in the mountain air in the Gran Paradiso national park – co-owner Mimmo will be happy to be your mountain guide and direct you to some off-the-beaten-track spots. The Cascade di Lillaz – breathtaking waterfalls – and the fairytale castles of the Valle d’Aosta are other musts.
The Bellevue's Spa de Montagne offers a swimming pool, jacuzzi, hot tubs, turkish baths and roman baths. Massages and other pampering treatments are available here, and the King Vittorio Bath and Hay Bath have to be tried to be believed.
The thousand-year-old Sant’Orso Wood Fair offers a feast of arts, crafts and woodwork.
