The best bedrooms are like the rosiest and cosiest of log cabins. Eight rooms have a fireplace, of which seven also have a whirlpool bath.

Pillow Talk
Go for a Junior suite if the budget allows, for a balcony with views over the Gran Paradiso – one has a four-poster plus an open fireplace facing the foot of the bed. Deluxe doubles with a fireplace go even better, with a balcony and views, whirlpool bathtub and (in three) a private sauna.

The Bellevue has a choice of three restaurants, all of them specialising in traditional Alpine dishes with an imaginative twist.

Breakfast
Breakfast is served until 10.30am. Look forward to homemade pastries, preserves and pancakes.

See & Do
You're in Grade-A skiing and walking country here. Breathe in the mountain air in the Gran Paradiso national park – co-owner Mimmo will be happy to be your mountain guide and direct you to some off-the-beaten-track spots. The Cascade di Lillaz – breathtaking waterfalls – and the fairytale castles of the Valle d’Aosta are other musts.

Spa
The Bellevue's Spa de Montagne offers a swimming pool, jacuzzi, hot tubs, turkish baths and roman baths. Massages and other pampering treatments are available here, and the King Vittorio Bath and Hay Bath have to be tried to be believed.
