Special features
Theatrical and richly decorated rooms are themed around famous guests who have stayed – so you could find yourselves in Art Deco, Ottoman or neo-classical surrounds. All come with a radio, minibar, satellite TV, wi-fi and a DVD/CD player.
Pillow Talk
Mignon rooms are snug, while Chic are better, with more space and quiet courtyard views. Our reviewer loved Madame de Merteuil's bordello-style boudoir and the balconied Marco Polo room – one of the Chic rooms overlooking the courtyard. Other favourites include Napoleon lll – one of the Mignon rooms, with a huge antique mirror, and the sultry Leopard room.
Eat & Drink
Dining in
L’Hôtel’s chic Le Restaurant (what else?) is the place for an intimate dinner à deux. Chef Philippe Bélisse has won a Michelin star here for modern French gastronomy at its best. House specialiities include Le Cochon de Lait, marinaded, spit-roasted young suckling pig and Le Chocolat – a divinely decadent chocolate tart studded with hazelnuts. The menu is small with four choices for starters, main courses and puddings.
Breakfast is taken in Le Restaurant or in the adjoining courtyard garden. Although small with seating for about a dozen people, strategically-placed mirrors convey a more spacious feel. A fountain with scallop-shape trickles – think Botticelli’s Venus.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served until 11 am, so no early rising required.
Room service
Available morning and evening.
Activities
See & Do
You could spend a week in the Louvre, but then how would you fit in Paris’s other blockbuster sights like Notre Dame, Montmartre, Musée d’Orsay, the Eiffel Tower and boat trips on the Seine? With so much to take in around Saint-Germain – there are galleries and boutiques galore – you may not even make it past the Left Bank. There's also the newest museum to the Parisian scene to see: Musée du Quai Branly. This is spectacular not only for its architecture but also as the most impressive permanent exhibition of non-European art ever assembled.
