STEPPING OFF THE BUSY Rue de Rennes into the uber chic Hotel Legend is rather like entering a dreamy other-world. This fetching Paris boutique hotel glows with huge murals, tactile fabrics and statement-making lighting.
Starry ceilings and trees draped with hanging glass lanterns adorn Hotel Legend’s lobby bar, ferns spill over the chic reception area and a fire blazes in a polished slate hearth. It’s all captivating and ultra contemporary.
French designer Virginie Cauet has created visually exciting interiors with bold, jewel colours, creative lighting and stylish furniture – just take in the lobby’s lime green chairs, suede bar stools and glinting glass lanterns for starters.
Bedrooms – petite but stylish – beckon in calming pastels. Soft lighting, fat candles and under-lit beds add to the sex appeal, while creating a perfect cocoon after a busy day staking out the big sights. Tempur-pedic mattresses and a pillow menu help ensure blissful slumbers, while LCD TVs, iPod docks and free wi-fi keep you connected.
Themed rooms at this chic city bolthole are brimming with eye-catching touches. Echo rooms are splashed with kitten-ish pinks and greys, the shower shielded with crackled glass. Narcisse rooms feature a swirling water-inspired motif, while the all-purple Passage Secret suite is dominated by a huge photo mural of a woman sssshing you to sleep.
We loved the Dreamcatcher suite – an attic hideaway with a huge in-room corner bath is perfect for soaking à deux, and a giant dreamcatcher ring hung from the ceiling. A sheepskin rug, wood framed open fireplace and feather patterned shower curtain completes the scene.
Start the day with petit déjeuner downstairs or sip a cafe au lait in the little patio garden before heading out to explore the sixth arrondissement. The Louvre, Musée d'Orsay and Notre Dame are all within striking distance.
