Hugged by rolling vines, smart and sophisticated Rollan de By is tailor made for oenophiles, with six individually designed junior suites each named after wines produced locally. Every day, after breakfast, guests are invited to taste local Médoc  wines and Domaine Rollan de By staff can also arrange trips to neighbouring vineyards for a true taste of the region.

A fine blend

Each of the six junior suites has been individually furnished by estate owner Jean Guyon, a former interior designer. Calming neutral tones and contemporary style four-poster beds (no drapes or canopies here) create an upmarket urban pad feel in the heart of the countryside.

Choose from the muted modern sandy desert colours of the Rollan de By room; the more masculine brown leather sofas and striped burgundy carpet of Cabernet; or the bright and breezy, pale and creamy Merlot and Haut Condissas rooms, which both feature large windows.

Splashes of red – deep and dark as the local wines – give the Tour Seran bedroom a cosy feel, while splashes of blue and a porthole style mirror in La Clare lend a nautical twist to this modern room.

Enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace, looking out onto the vineyards and the scenic Gironde estuary. Santé to that!
