HOTEL SEZZ
Parisian designer bolthole that’s nth degree cool
STANDING ALMOST IN THE FOOTPRINT of the Eiffel Tower, Hotel Sezz preens behind a classic Parisian façade. But step inside this
hip and head-turning boutique hotel, and – Mon Dieu! – it’s another story.
High on style from its cool foyer lounge to its airy balconies with views of the iconic Tower, Hotel Sezz is dressed down to kill. Designer Christophe Pillet – a protégé of design guru Philippe Starck – has created his own brand of bachelor pad chic in the 16th arrondissement with
clean lines, deep colours and statement-making flourishes.
Red and black are boldly interleaved with slate-grey bathrooms, exposed stonework, scarlet rugs and mood lighting. While the style and colour palette is undeniably masculine, it’s also
sexy and nth degree cool.
Hit the spot
Close to the Eiffel Tower, in the 16th.
Bedtime
Take a balconied junior suite (ask when booking) or splash out on one of the two Loft suites – Room 75 is the fave – with Eiffel Tower vistas.
Be savvy
It’s very much about new-world chic, not old-world Parisian.
Be smitten
Nth degree cool in the 16th.
Technics tally
Rooms wow with strong colours, slick lines and artful use of space. Big beds sit on chrome legs, while slate-grey bathrooms hide brilliantly behind smoked glass walls with
huge Japanese style soaking tubs (plenty big enough for two) and gleaming chrome. Loaded with Kiehl toiletries, they are also piled with snowy towels and robes to curl up in.
Two
loft style suites at this smart boutique hotel have full-on views of the Eiffel Tower. Some rooms have freestanding baths in the bedroom, and many have French doors opening onto a balcony. Naturally there’s a high technics count, with flatscreen TVs, iPod docks, free wireless internet, DVD/CD players (just dip into the DVD library at reception) and cordless phones with voicemail.
There’s no reception desk at Hotel Sezz and you’ll enjoy a glass of champagne on arrival proffered by your personal concierge – your contact point for anything you may need during your stay.
Sip some bubbly while admiring the new-age fireplace in the entrance and the tall Sezz signature vases.
You’ll also find a Veuve Clicquot champagne bar here (a Paris first) with curvy crimson banquettes, and a
subterranean Wellness centre with a jacuzzi, hammam and massage room. Book it for the two of you to steam and soak à deux.
It’s very much about new-world chic at Hotel Sezz – so not the place for an old-world Parisian experience. First-timers in Paris may prefer to be in the city’s heart by the grand boulevards, but others will love its
quiet location close to the River Seine and away from the main tourist beat. Friendly and welcoming staff add the extra touch here.

Dining in
There’s no restaurant at Hotel Sezz, but Paris is just outside the door! Warm up with a pre-dinner glass of fizz at La Grande Dame, the
hotel’s Veuve Clicquot champagne bar. There’s 24-hour room service with a menu of light bites, and
you can order in meals from local restaurants.
Dining out
There are plenty of great places to eat nearby in the 16th arrondissement. Try Zebra Square, a trendy lounge bar cum restaurant, or Le 6 New York – just steps from the illuminated Eiffel Tower.
For some seriously haute nosh in stylish surroundings, try the Michelin starred L’Astrance, also in the 16th.
