SWAN AT BIBURY
Classic Cotswolds charm on the riverbank
THERE ARE COTSWOLDS
and there are Cotswolds, and Bibury is about as Cotswold as you can get. William Morris, who knew a thing or two about style, declared this spot the
prettiest village in England.
With its ivy-covered golden stone walls and
views of the River Coln’s weeping willows, the Swan instantly recreates the mood of a timeless England. Walk in through the front door and pass a baby grand, revel in the eclectic decor – a Mackintosh chair or watercolour here, an Art Deco mirror there – it all evokes that 1920s lost weekend feel.
You might find a vintage Roberts radio to set the musical mood to an era before hi-fi, possibly a chandelier, certainly fluffy bathrobes for two and pretty riverside views. Since
the Swan's setting is a veritable proposal in waiting, it’s not surprising to find that the place also boasts a clutch of wedding suites. Match the mood by catching Romeo and Juliet at nearby Stratford-upon-Avon or plan a happy ending along the river banks.

Bedtime
Splash into hot tub heaven in of the three swishy garden suites – your own private garden and outdoor tub. Do book well ahead!
Be Savvy
It's a popular village with weekend daytrippers.
Be Smitten
Life on a chocolate box.
Wallow, then whirl in the spa
You can wallow then whirl in one of the three deluxe rooms with a canopied bed and jacuzzi, or splash out on one of the
swishy new duplex suites overlooking the river just down the road. These are a cut above and come complete with a garden, fluffy robes, DVD players and iPod docks.
High ceilings, tall windows and oil paintings set the scene in the Gallery Restaurant for contemporary British cuisine. The chef will
tickle fresh Bibury trout into a mouthwatering dish and changes dinner menus daily.
