LODGE COUNTRY HOUSE
Elegant Barossa wine valley homestead
FORMERLY THE HOME OF of winemaker Udo Seppelt and just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Seppeltsfield Winery, The Lodge Country House sits at the heart of the Barossa’s wine estates.
Set in three acres of leafy, lawned gardens teeming with birdlife, this
elegant turn-of-the-century homestead has all the feel of a grand country home, complete with gables and traditional wide verandah. Just an hour from Adelaide in a pastoral vineyard and creek setting, the century-old Lodge has a library, outdoor pool and
tennis court complete with a summer pavilion perfect for enjoying a glass of Barossa wine.
Luxurious bedrooms are individually decorated, with bay window seats and indulgent extras. There’s a roomy sitting room where a fire crackles merrily in winter, and a sociable dining area where guests gather for breakfast. Dinner at The Lodge Country House is to be savoured, and the chandeliered dining room, with its polished mahogany furniture is the perfect setting for
first-rate country cooking, majoring on fresh, home-grown Barossan ingredients. Enjoy a rare vintage from the well-stocked cellar with your dinner.

See & Do
This area is a mecca for wine lovers. Tours to all the major wineries (Jacob’s Creek, Penfold’s, Wolf Blass and Peter Lehmann among others) are easily arranged. Head into nearby Tanunda, the region's cultural heart, and soak up its Germanic feel – early settlers here were mostly Prussian. Angaston has more of a historic-frontier feel and is well worth a day trip. Back at the homestead, cool off in the pool, play a set of tennis or for the more cerebrally inclined, dip into the library.
Shop
You can sample the German sausages and breads from Tanunda's delis, or pick up a bottle or two of the region’s most famous vintages. For more creative presents, head to Barossa Birthstones in nearby Angaston to see customised birthstones made from prehistoric rock cut to order.
After dark
Sip an aperitif on the verandah, or settle down by the log fire on cooler nights.
