Back alleys close to the hotel will take you to the more colourful side of town, but should you wish to join the big spenders, step out into the big Paris department stores. Don’t stick to the Champs-Elysées unless you like fast food and same-y souvenirs.

Theatre, music, cinema and clubs are right at your door. Book tickets for the Paris Opera, or sip a cocktail in the d'Aubusson's low-lit Café Laurent and listen to the live singing and jazz. Just don’t stick on a beret and you’ll fit right in.
