HOMEWOOD PARK
Quintessential English country house minutes from Bath.
ENJOY A TASTE OF THE HIGH LIFE at Homewood Park. This
luxurious country house sits in lush grounds in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just ten minutes from Georgian Bath.
Glowing from a sleek top-to-bottom makeover, Homewood Park’s 19 bedrooms have been given a
distinctly boutique-y edge with contemporary stripes and florals, gleaming up-to-the-minute bathrooms and expensive drapes. Warm neutrals are set off with accents of plum, apple green, chestnut brown and navy.
Plush but relaxed, Homewood Park is very much the
quintessential English country house. You almost expect to hear the thwack of croquet balls on the lawn, or the ticking of grandfather clocks as you nibble on afternoon tea and scones. There are plenty of plump sofas to cosy up by the hearth – which we happily did with our post-dinner brandies. Two contented resident cats add to that home-from-home feeling.

Ten minutes from Georgian Bath.

Room 17 has a four poster bed and freestanding rolltop bath for two. Room 20 (another junior suite) has a split-level bathroom with a rolltop.
Be savvy

Highly affordable high life near Bath.
Sleek bedrooms
Many rooms come with
super-kingsize or four poster beds (ours was so big I almost lost sight of my girlfriend) and rolltop baths for two. Our wide bay window overlooked the hotel’s award-winning gardens, and we loved the mix of bold feature wallpapers with classic furnishings. Cushions, quality throws and tall lamps add comfort and luxe, and rooms feel nicely private.
Room 20 has a great split-level bathroom and rolltop bath, while 17 is a contemporary four poster room with a roll top bath in the centre of the bathroom made for double soaks.
Two of the suites have French doors opening on to a private garden area, while the other – in the attic – has views over the heated outdoor pool.
Dining at Homewood Park’s light and airy restaurant – something of a destination its own right – is top-notch. Menus change with the seasons and you can expect top
modern English cooking with Gallic influences from head chef Daniel Moon. The focus on fresh West country ingredients.
Veggies are grown in the hotel’s kitchen garden, bread is baked daily and everything down to the petit fours is made on the spot. Everything from the canapes to the chef’s pre-starter went down a treat, and we loved the
monkfish with haddock chowder and the wicked chocolate mousse.
Looking over the lovely Limpley Stoke valley, Homewood Park is just the place to wind down. Its
acres of flower-filled gardens regularly steal top prizes in the prestigious Bath in Bloom competition, and you're just ten minutes from the city centre.
Have a dip in the heated outdoor pool, or pick up a walking map from reception and explore the lanes and alleyways of nearby Freshford. Bath and its multitude of attractions is almost around the corner.

Dining in
Look forward to modern British cooking with French influences:
sautéed Cornish scallops, braised pork belly, Wiltshire lamb,
Somerset cheeses and truffles, pigeons and foie gras from France.
Dining out
For a change of scene, try the Stag Inn at Hinton Charterhouse. For smartest dining, it has to be the Dower House at the Royal Crescent in Bath or the Sorrel restaurant at Ston Easton Park.
