DREAMERS MOUNTAIN VILLAGE

Luxury mountain chalets near Victoria's snowfields

GAZE OUT AT SNOW DUSTED PEAKS in winter, crackly orange leaves in the fall and lush pastures in summer. Add a tranquil trout-filled lagoon, cosy log fires and double spa baths and you have Dreamers Mountain Village, tucked into the foothills of Mount Bogong.

Five distinctive dome-roofed chalets are set in five acres of river land rustling with wildlife. Pick the Lagoon chalet for absolute water frontage at Dreamers (throw a line and hook from your balcony), a sunken lounge and cosy wood fire. Cascades has a waterfall at your window, an awesome four-poster and a garden balcony, while the Glasshouse has a wrought-iron four-poster and unbeatable mountain vistas through a huge cathedral window.

A private footbridge leads the way to secluded Snow Gums (the honeymooners’ favourite) whose high points include an outdoor rock spa for starlit soaking, and a huge bed with gossamer drapes. Opt for the family-sized Barn and you have the wickedest glass bath. Bringing friends along? Opt for one of Dreamers' new three-bedroom eco-apartments.

Moonlit dinners on the jetty

How about a moonlit dinner for two on Dreamers' private jetty? Dine by candlelight in your chalet if the weather’s chilly. Hone your slalom technique on Falls Creek snowfields, try white-water rafting, four-wheel driving, mountain biking or hitch up a horse and wagon.

Dining in
Breakfast is available, and it’s hearty home-made fare. Choose from freshly baked bread and preserves, fresh fruit or a  full cooked platter to start your day.

Dining out
You'll find three great restaurants nearby. For authentic Italian pizza the highly-rated Frissante is only 50 yards away. A short drive gets you Rois, where the cooking is modern Italian, though remember to book in advance. An even shorter drive gets you to the relaxed and appropriately named Recline.

Where?

In your Dreamers private suite.

What’s cooking?
Breakfast brought to your bed – whether it's coffee and croissants or the full works.

What else?
If you prefer, rustle up whatever you please in your fully fitted kitchen to set you up for the day.

See & Do

This is adventure country. Come here in winter and check out the great skiing and snow sports or try abseiling and white water rafting. If that's too energetic you could try a little prospecting at the historic gold mining towns of Beechworth and Yackandandah. Have a game of tennis, a dip in the pool or a round of croquet, or simply take a picnic hamper off into the hills. A horse and buggy ride is a great way to get to know your surrounds.

Shop
Lovers of Aussie wine should check out some of the great wineries in the region. There are plenty of craft markets and galleries to tempt you.

Spa
Book a massage in your room to unwind after an energetic day in the outdoors. And did we mention the spa bath in your suite?

After dark
Head out to dine then count the stars in the clear mountain sky.

Dates
End of August
Come and watch the Kangaroo Hoppet cross country ski races at Falls Creek – the Southern Hemisphere’s largest snow sports event.
