THIS HANDSOME STONE AND TIMBER RESIDENCE set back from the sandy shores of Eagle Bay is tailor-made for twosomes. Abundance @ Eagle Bay has two luxurious suites, both with their own private entrance, and beautifully appointed. Kingsize beds made of local red gum are wrapped in crisp bedlinen and piled with silken cushions in shades of cappuccino and chocolate just waiting to be dived into, while the ample sofa is just made for lounging.

Drift into the bathroom and you can soak beneath the suds of your double spa bath, with fluffy towels and robes to hand. Even the TV, DVD player and fridge are set in handsome hand-crafted furniture. It’s all designed for spoil-yourselves indulgence, and everything’s adults-only here.

Breakfast or dine by your window looking over the wooded grounds at Abundance @ Eagle Bay – perhaps by flickering candlelight –  or sit out on your private shaded verandah savouring a glass of chilled Chardonnay. Just a five-minute stroll away is pristine Eagle Bay beach, where you can hop over the rockpools, go fossicking or chase each other into the surf.

Wineries and wildlife

Try the neighbourhood eaterie for eats, or whip up a snack in your room.Take a Margaret River winery tour, go bird or wildlife watching, strike out on the golf course or try your luck at salmon fishing. You might even spot some migrating whales from the shore.

Dining in
Delicious breakfast options include pancakes with maple syrup and hash browns. You can pre-order an arrival platter loaded with sushi, antipasto and local fudge – plus of course some liquid refreshment – and order a private chef to cook dinner for two. And of course you have your own kitchen to rustle up a quick supper.

Dining out
Eateries including Enjoia, Bunker Bay Café and Sienna Lodge are all excellent local options.

See & Do
The whale watching season in Geographe Bay starts in September, when the calm waters turn into a nursery as whale cows and calves take a breather while migrating south to Antarctica. You can also go diving, surfing or fishing, hit one of the many nature trails or head for the golf course. The Busselton Jetty Observatory Underwater is one of Western Australia’s most popular eco-tourism icons, and the views from the top of the Cape Naturalise lighthouse are well worth checking out. And be sure to include a winery tour in the Margaret River region

Use the Abundance Personal Shopper service to pre-order treats in your room – be it rose petals, champers or balloons. Stock up on excellent local vintages at some of the Margaret River wineries.

Book an in-room massage, manicure or facial for some private pampering here.

After dark
You could head into neighbouring Dunsborough (7 km), though  after a private dinner and a walk on the beach you’ll probably be ready for bed.
