JUTTING OUT INTO THE ATLANTIC, Brittany's rugged coastline has that breezy, good-to-be-alive fresh-air tang. This is the place for uncrowded beaches, rocky islets and watersports.
Inland, you'll find sleepy towns and villages like medieval Rochefort-en-Terre where you can step back in time among half-timbered houses and narrow streets. You can still see women in lace head-dresses at special events and occasionally even hear the ancient Breton language spoken.
